POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directs and supervises the financial management of the entire organization including hospital accounting, financial management, patient financial services, health information management, and materials management. The CFO is also responsible for the annual budget and annual audit. The CFO serves on the Executive Committee and is integral in the strategic development and performance of the Clay County Medical Center (CCMC). The CFO acts in a leadership role for hospital financial activities including development, committee assignments, and sources of revenue and cost structure, among other assigned matters.
CCMC is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital with $62M+ gross patient revenue and $33M+ net patient revenue. We are growing and are currently undergoing two construction projects. We are financially strong with over 180 days cash on hand and positive net bottom lines over the last nine years. We operate five rural health clinics and have over 125 credentialed medical providers. CCMC operates Clay Center Family Physicians, Clyde Family Physicians, Linn Family Physicians, Riley Family Physicians, Glasco Family Physicians, Meadowlark Hospice, and the Mark A. Chapman Wellness Center.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or related field. Master's Degree in Health Care, Business or related management field is preferred.
- Five (5) years accounting and finance management experience in a Critical Access Hospital preferred; Rural Health Clinic experience preferred. 3-5 years in leadership positions or significant scope of responsibility required.
- Experience with budgeting, productivity, cost reduction analysis preferred.
- Experience with revenue cycle management required.
- Must possess or gain a strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards in all areas of responsibility.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of commitment, motivation, team orientation, personal honesty and integrity and a demonstration of treating with dignity and respect.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee, manage, and assume overall responsibility for all accounting functions, to include Accounts Payable, General Ledger management for CCMC.
- Provide for month end close of the General Ledger, including management or supervision of all journal entries. Ensure that monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements are published timely and accurately and presentation to appropriate audiences.
- Responsible for supervision, training, development, and evaluation of personnel in the respective departments to include: Finance, Patient Financial Services, Health Information Technology, and Supply Chain Management.
- Responsible for providing management and leadership for the Hospital Revenue Cycle and all associated elements, procedures, practices, policies, documents associated with Cycle
- Provide overall financial leadership for CCMC to include goal setting, quality and performance measurement.
- Coordinates the budget cycle for the Hospital. Coordinate the annual financial audit and cost report preparation and timely filing.
- When requested by the CEO and/or Board, pursues methods for financing of capital projects or capital acquisitions, provides required information to financial institutions and lenders, and provides oversight for debt payments and reports for creditors when required and requested.
